Digital Portfolio

Artistic Statement
One reason that I create art is to express myself freely.  Most of my inspiration comes from modern and contemporary artists.  I enjoy using bright and fun colors in my work to mirror my personality.  The designs that I make aren’t just made for nothing; they have a special meaning in my life.
I am a designer because I like to create something from nothing; I take pride in watching my work progress from beginning to end.  I enjoy making things for others and challenging myself to go further and think outside the box.
With the knowledge that I have gained in graphic design there is no doubt that I will continue to make art if not as a profession then as a hobby.

Logo Examples

Gatorade.
The creators of the Gatorade logo narrowed the word down to just G.  This is simpler and easier to advertise.  Adding the lightning bolt is what gives Gatorade its unique look.  I believe the bolt symbolizes the electrolytes that Gatorade replenishes.  When people see the G and the lightning bolt they know it is for Gatorade.

Jordan.
This symbol has been around for a while.  Nothing has to be written with it because most people know what it is for.  This is the signature jump that pro basketball player, Michael Jordan is known for.  Similar logos such as the Shaq apparel line have been made to copy this infamous symbol.

Vans.
This logo is seen with and without the skateboard and the subtitle "off the wall."  There is no particular color that is associated with the logo, but the style of the writing is uniform.  The way that the V continues over the whole word is a signature for Vans.

Apple.
This is the third logo for Apple since a logo was created for it.  This is more modern and chic for the product.  This logo makes sense for the product because it is both the symbol for the product and the symbol is also the name of the product.  When people see the apple they automatically associate it with Apple products.

Adidas.
I found two symbols that Adidas uses as logos.  The one on the right is a more classic logo for Adidas.  Either logo that they use it is always something to do with three lines, three bars, or three leaves.  The same idea is there, but the logo is enhanced or altered.  Even though this is the case people can still identify adidas with the three lines.

Nike.
Everybody knows the Nike swoosh.  Whether the brand name "Nike" was written on this jacket or not, many people would still know that it was for Nike.  The swoosh symbolizes swiftness which is what Nike wants to associate with sports.  This works because it is very simple and clean.

Forever 21.
One of the logos for Forever 21 is "XXI Forever."  This is a unique symbol because it's in roman numerals.  Instead of having the 'forever' about the XXI, they put it on the bottom so it really reads 21 forever.  This is changing the brand a little, but still making it work.  I don't think it would look as good if the forever was above the XXI.  Their signature color is yellow which symbolizes youth and freshness.

Puma.
This is one of the logos that Puma has.  Just like the apple symbol, the name of the brand is the same as the name of the symbol so if the word 'puma' wasn't there and it was just the animal, most people would know what it was for.  I think it is very interesting placing where they have the Puma; it's like it is jumping over the word.  I also like the font that they use for the brand.

Holy Family Logo
This is Holy Family's new logo with the added on word 'SOCCER.'  This is nothing like the previous logos that Holy Family has had; this is more of a shield than anything else.  The colors that they use are not the same as the school colors.  Having many different logos in a short period of time will not help create brand awareness.  This was not a good move on Holy Family's part.

Burger King.
This is the symbol for Burger King.  It has been used for so long that if there was just a red block instead of the name 'Burger King' in between the burger, it would be easy to identify what it was for.  The colors that they use were well thought out and go together very well.  The reason that they go together well is because they are primary colors.  Having the Burger within the symbol is also a good technique because it tells the consumer what they are known for.
